To prolong the life of your Montana Dyed scarf, only wash when necessary. Hand-wash in lukewarm water with pH neutral laundry soap. Hang to dry out of direct sunlight. If desired, iron on medium heat or the silk setting.

We wash all of our scarves before packaging and shipping. However, the odor of some dye plants remains in the fabric for the first few washes. This is most noticeable when the fabric is wet and will dissipate over time.

The plant derived hue of your scarf is wash and light fast. However, some natural dyes will fade or darken over time. Fading can be minimized by washing only when needed and not hanging in direct sunlight. When a particular hue is susceptible to darkening it cannot be prevented and is noted in the description on our product pages.

Some natural dyes are susceptible to color shift with exposure to acidic or basic substances. Household acids include lemon juice and vinegar. Household bases include baking soda and bleach. Avoid exposure to acids and bases.

Our products are dyed using a traditional process including a mordant bath and plant derived dye bath. This results in a molecular bond between the plant pigment and the silk fiber. We use non-toxic mordants and plants only.

We do our best to accurately show the product colors. However, these scarves are created in small batches using a natural process. There is often some mild variations in color. Each piece is original and perfectly imperfect.

Our printed scarves are each unique because they are a print of the actual plant. You can expect the pattern of a printed scarf to be distinct from the pictured product, but the colors of the print will be consistent with those shown in the picture.
